Big Sister Bragging Rights

One of our favorite stories in my family is the tale of when my dad took me to the hospital to meet my new baby sister. I was two years old at the time. I saw her and promptly burst into tears and sobbed, "Mommy, Daddy, PUT HER BACK!" My little two year old self had no way of knowing that the little baby girl my mom was holding would become my best friend in the world! My little sister Amy is an absolutely amazing person! Everyone who knows her loves her, and everyone who doesn't know her is missing out. Amy is the nicest person in the world. She always thinks of others before herself, and she makes everyone she interacts with feel like they are the most important person in the world. She's also the most loyal and supportive friend you could ever want. She's been there for me no matter what, and me being away at school hasn't changed that. Whenever I'm down, she's always knows exactly what to say to make me feel better. Whenever something exciting ha

Valentine's Day 2013!

Valentine's Day was actually fantastic! A lot of girls complain about being single on Valentine's Day, but I feel like even if you don't have a significant other, it can just be a day about celebrating the loved ones in your life! I certainly did feel loved today! Work wasn't very busy today, which is super unusual so I got to just kind of hang out with my coworkers which was really fun! They're all super fun people! After class, I went and bought tickets for a concert on Friday night at The Wall with my roommates! We're going with a group of friends and it's gonna be so much fun! I'm so excited! I came home to find a valentine on my door from my wonderful visiting teacher and friend Paige! She is so sweet! Then Kaylee and I went to check our mail! I had a valentine from my grandma and Kaylee and I both had packages from our families! When we get a package, the postal service leaves a key in our mailbox. Kaylee and I spent a solid 15 minutes trying to op

Because He Came

I just love everything about Sundays. I love having a day of rest. I love talking to my family. I love taking the Sacrament and renewing my covenants with my Heavenly Father. I love spending three hours in church meetings discussing the principles of the Gospel. I love the Sundays when I get to direct choir rehearsals after church. Today we had stake conference and I got to once again hear Elder Bednar speak. It was so incredible to shake his hand yesterday, and I felt so uplifted and inspired by his messages! How cool is it that I got to hear an apostle and his wife speak twice in one weekend? When I got home, I got on lds.org to read some Conference talks. On the home page, I found this link . It was a five part article about the five years that President Monson has been our prophet. One part of the article that really struck me was a quote found in part 2, which highlighted some of his teachings from the past five years. Talking about our Savior Jesus Christ he said, "Because H

This Week

This week I signed two apartment contracts, registered for classes for spring, discovered my new favorite place on campus, AND met an apostle of the Lord. I've now met four out of the Twelve. I'm a third of the way there! So first, the apartment contracts. The first one was for spring term. I'm actually just staying in the apartment I live in now with my awesome roommate Alyssa. So basically I just extended my contract eight weeks. We kind of hope that Liberty Square decides not to fill our apartment so we can have our own rooms. Not that we don't love each other. That would just be fun. So I guess that's not really all that exciting. I do always feel a little grown up signing a piece of paper that claims to be in no uncertain terms, "a binding legal document." The second contract is a LITTLE bit of a bigger deal. First off, can I just say that I'm so lucky to have such amazing roommates? When I signed an apartment contract with my two best friends

Decisions, Decisions

First off, the irony is entirely not lost on me that I'm sitting here in the library procrastinating writing a paper, so I'm writing a blog post instead. My Mondays are awful, because I have an hour and a half class at 8 am, then a 2 and a half hour break, then a class at noon, then a three hour break, followed by another hour and a half class at 4. I wish I could just have all three classes back to back and get them over with, but you know, that's life. So anyways, I'm in the midst of making a pretty big decision in my life. I'm trying to decide whether the Lord needs me to serve a mission, or whether I should stay here at BYU and work on finishing my degree while working toward my goal of getting married and having a family. The hard part about this decision for me is the fact that it's a choice between two good things. I've been praying a lot about it, and felt that I wasn't really getting an answer. Yesterday was Fast Sunday, and I decided that thi
